FINALLY AT PEACE

We moved Thursday.  As I lie (or is it lay or some other form of that word) in bed Wednesday night, unable to sleep, I counted the number of moves I've made in my life and it was 32.  Most of those moves were between 1997 - 2005 although since 2005 there have been eight moves.  The timeframe between 1997 and 2005 I was one lost soul.  In fact, I would venture to say  was a zombie, trying to get through life as best I could, working 12+ hours a day, moving up the fucked up corporate ladder and going wherever the next best thing (or so I thought) presented itself.

Which makes this move so sweet and special.  Lots of healing and growing up has occurred and I am in my forever home with my forever mate.   My forever mates isn't here right now and he hasn't been here since Friday morning at 6:00.  But that is one of the things that I love about him - he's got his priorities straight.  So he's been in Charlotte at our nephew, Brad's, graduation from Davidson College.   I, on the other hand, have been working like a crazy woman since Thursday morning at around 5 a.m. to make this move happen and to get us settled.

I am in physical pain from four straight days of moving and unpacking but I am at peace.  Keith, I can't wait for you to arrive tomorrow at our peaceful, forever home.

Some pics as a little teaser.

Isn't it beautiful?

Mirrors and the final hardware will be installed early this week

Shower glass door will be installed tomorrow afternoon and we'll be able to use our shower on Wednesday

No, baby, the speakers have not yet been installed

Didn't want you to feel left out so I am saving the landing (and the media room) for you.

I just love our back yard; Koda and I spent lots of time playing ball in the yard today.  She would hang out there all day if she was allowed

It just doesn't get any better than this.  I plan to spend a ton of time in this room!

The purple guest room (aka Michael and Jeremy's room)

The pikes peak gray guest room - I know, I need to learn how to use the flash on my phone camera.

A few missing items (hood and one pendant over the island) but this is home sweet home

The creme sofa will just have to do for a while.  Our plan was to have this sofa downstairs in the media room and purchase a black leather sofa but our cream sofa woud not make the turn into the basement.  So we'll be purchasing smaller furniture for the media room.  :(

24 HOURS AND COUNTING

Monday Keith and I stopped by the house at the end of the day and our hearts sank.  The house was a disaster and I am not exaggerating in the least.  There were cabinet doors and draws on the floor.  There was garbage all over.  The appliances were not installed.  The tile was not done in the master bath.  We were pretty sure that our move would need to be postponed.

I called John immediately and he came over.  He, too, was concerned.  The plumbers were not to leave Monday unless they had all of the appliances installed.  The painters did not do the touch-up work they promised.  I expressed my disappointment and concern and he told us not to get too down as he would do his best to get the project back on schedule.  He said "you'll be amazed what can happen at this phase in 24 hours."

Well, he did not disappoint.  Yesterday (Tuesday) the stucco was done in about 9 hours.  The tiling was finished, a toilet was installed, the main floor bath countertop and sink was installed, the dishwasher was installed, and the house was transformed into a thing of beauty by early afternoon so the final coat could be put on the hardwood floors.  The fridge and stove still need to be installed today and the cleaning crew will have lots of dust on their hands when they arrive today at 3 but behold our new home in all of its glory:

Let's start with the purple guest bedroom painted with love to match the hand-made quilt my mom made me for my 50th birthday.  The color is appropriately called Purple Heart

And onto our 2nd guest bedroom painted Pike's Peak Grey

This is the main floor bathroom

This is our teeny tiny bathroom in the basement.  This will be a project we tackle once we're in and settled but the crew accidentally ripped out the aqua toilet that was in there since 1955 so John installed a new one

This view is from the landing going down to the basement which is Keith's media room

Here are several pictures of our master bath.  The glass and mirrors will be installed Friday so we'll have to shower in the main floor bath until that occurs

Still need the frame installed around the master bedroom fireplace.  The bedroom paint colors are wisteria and evening sky (you can't see it in this picture but the ceiling is also painted evening sky (same color as the fireplace accent wall)

This view is from the upstairs landing looking down to the living room

And my favorite room in the house - the kitchen.  I could not be more happy.

My second favorite view which captures the red staircase and black accent wall.  The paint colors are called diva red and nightfall.  The final coat on the hardwood floors truly make the house sparkle.

STUCCO!

Keith and I lamented over our stucco color.  We are really happy with the color choice, the design and the finished product.  They completed the stucco in one day.  Again, the guys are incredible and work their butts off.  Can't say enough good things about this crew.

Finishing touches and taking down scaffolding

Lance working on the porch posts

In less than 48 hours, we will call this place home.

SOME FINAL TOUCHES

This week our new sidewalk and porch was finished.  Who knew a sidewalk could be so exciting!

And, while these photos don't do the lighting justice, I thought I would post them as a little teaser.
