24 HOURS AND COUNTING

Monday Keith and I stopped by the house at the end of the day and our hearts sank.  The house was a disaster and I am not exaggerating in the least.  There were cabinet doors and draws on the floor.  There was garbage all over.  The appliances were not installed.  The tile was not done in the master bath.  We were pretty sure that our move would need to be postponed.

I called John immediately and he came over.  He, too, was concerned.  The plumbers were not to leave Monday unless they had all of the appliances installed.  The painters did not do the touch-up work they promised.  I expressed my disappointment and concern and he told us not to get too down as he would do his best to get the project back on schedule.  He said "you'll be amazed what can happen at this phase in 24 hours."

Well, he did not disappoint.  Yesterday (Tuesday) the stucco was done in about 9 hours.  The tiling was finished, a toilet was installed, the main floor bath countertop and sink was installed, the dishwasher was installed, and the house was transformed into a thing of beauty by early afternoon so the final coat could be put on the hardwood floors.  The fridge and stove still need to be installed today and the cleaning crew will have lots of dust on their hands when they arrive today at 3 but behold our new home in all of its glory:

Let's start with the purple guest bedroom painted with love to match the hand-made quilt my mom made me for my 50th birthday.  The color is appropriately called Purple Heart

And onto our 2nd guest bedroom painted Pike's Peak Grey

This is the main floor bathroom

This is our teeny tiny bathroom in the basement.  This will be a project we tackle once we're in and settled but the crew accidentally ripped out the aqua toilet that was in there since 1955 so John installed a new one

This view is from the landing going down to the basement which is Keith's media room

Here are several pictures of our master bath.  The glass and mirrors will be installed Friday so we'll have to shower in the main floor bath until that occurs

Still need the frame installed around the master bedroom fireplace.  The bedroom paint colors are wisteria and evening sky (you can't see it in this picture but the ceiling is also painted evening sky (same color as the fireplace accent wall)

This view is from the upstairs landing looking down to the living room

And my favorite room in the house - the kitchen.  I could not be more happy.

My second favorite view which captures the red staircase and black accent wall.  The paint colors are called diva red and nightfall.  The final coat on the hardwood floors truly make the house sparkle.

STUCCO!

Keith and I lamented over our stucco color.  We are really happy with the color choice, the design and the finished product.  They completed the stucco in one day.  Again, the guys are incredible and work their butts off.  Can't say enough good things about this crew.

Finishing touches and taking down scaffolding

In less than 48 hours, we will call this place home.

SOME FINAL TOUCHES

This week our new sidewalk and porch was finished.  Who knew a sidewalk could be so exciting!

And, while these photos don't do the lighting justice, I thought I would post them as a little teaser.

ONE WEEK OUT

One week from tonight we will be in our new home.  We aren't quite sure how John is going to accomplish everything that needs to be done in one week but he hasn't let us down yet so we figure he has his plan.

Tonight we were at a dinner party just a few blocks from our house so on the way home we stopped to look at the placement of our foyer chandelier.  Here are a few miscellaneous pictures we took:

Our funky diva red laundry room

Our gorgeous master bathroom sinks

Our fully tiled master shower

This time next week I'll likely be enjoying this shower after a full day of moving.  Cannot wait!

Hardwood Floors - Final Phase

The incredibly fantastic news is that the hardwood floors are done and they look magnificent.  The less than stellar news is that they did not finish them on time which resulted in me not being able to get into the house this weekend to paint some of the rooms I want to paint.  So, I will be spending my week rushing over to the house after work to paint the main floor bath (finished this last night) and Keith's office (will begin this room tonight) before they install the carpet in the office. This will also allow me to focus on painting the two guest rooms this weekend (the final weekend before our move on May 16).

Check out the hardwood floors.

Aren't they just grand?!

When I was at the house this morning the electrician arrived with the under the cabinet lighting for the kitchen.  This lighting will get installed this morning.

And yesterday they installed the master shower floor tile and began tiling around the master tub.

In just over a week we will be enjoying this tub and shower and this long process will come to a close.  It will be bittersweet.

HARDWOOD FLOORS - PHASE I

Yesterday when I stopped to check out the paint there was a young man named Alex at the house.  He explained that he was responsible for the hardwood floor preparation.  His goal was to have his portion done by the end of the day and he delivered.  He must be one working machine because we have hardwood floors throughout the first floor and second floor with the exception of the bathrooms and Keith's office.  Thanks Alex!

Ta Da!

The painters finished their work yesterday so my first stop this morning was the house to see their work.  The colors are stunning, vivid and a little crazy so for the faint of heart, you might not appreciate the photos.  But I'm totally digging the finished look.  In fact, once we get in and get settled, I think a few more colors will be in order.

Let's start with the living room accent wall called Nightfall

And now the master bedroom with the walls Wisteria and the accent wall and ceiling Evening Sky.

And the grand finale - the Diva red staircase
